Connemara is a stop that is next to the Aran Islands. This is a place of great beauty and can be explored before you come out to the Aran Islands or after you leave. Connemara has a lot of villages which include Clifden and Letterfrack which is at the foot of the Connemara National Park. It also is next to Westport and Castlebar.
To get to Rossaveal which is the ferry port that is located in Connemara you would need a car. If you are using public transport you would need to take a bus into Galway and then to Rossaveal

The ancient mountains have been raked to their bones by long thawed glaciers, leaving patches of grey granite and jutting outwards, and potatoe rows still visible from the desperate times of the Great Famine. The fields are divided by hand-made stone walls, often collapsed.

The abbey has a few rooms on display, and you can also walk down the lake to the church and mausoleum. Magnificent views.
