Getting to Inishmore

Inishmore is the largest and most accessible island of the Aran Islands. The island is accessible by both passenger ferry and airplane. The passenger ferries depart from Galway City, Rossaveel and Doolin. The airplane to Inishmore departs from Connemara Regional Airport. You cannot take your car on the ferry to the Island.

  • Parking and Transportation: We understand many visitors arrive by car. Luckily, parking is available at Galway Harbour, opposite the Galway Harbour Hotel car park, Rossaveel and at Doolin Pier. However, please note that ferries to Inishmore are for foot passengers only.
  • Boarding: To ensure a stress-free start to your adventure, all passengers should be present for boarding 45 minutes before departure. If you’re driving, factor in extra time for parking, especially during peak season.
  • E-Tickets: Gone are the days of paper tickets! We’ve transitioned to a more sustainable e-ticket system. Your booking confirmation email includes all the information you need to board. Simply show the QR code on your mobile device to our crew.
  • Ferry Amenities: Relax and enjoy the scenic journey! Each ferry boasts a fully stocked bar and refreshment services, along with comfortable indoor and outdoor seating options.
  • Booking and Cancellation: We highly recommend booking your tickets in advance, particularly between April and October, as ferries fill up quickly. But don’t worry, changes in plans happen! You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before departure and receive a full refund.
  • Luggage and Essentials: Pack light, as there’s no limit on luggage. We recommend bringing essentials like a camera, comfy shoes, a rain jacket (Irish weather can be unpredictable!), sunscreen, and some cash, as some island businesses might not accept cards.
