Rossaveal is more popular choice for visitors to Inis Mor noted for the relatively calm crossing and short distance to Inis Mor Island. Rossaveal is also located in the center of the Wild Atlantic way. It is easily accessed to by any part of Connemara as well as Westport, Donegal, and Sligo. It is also easily accessed to by Dublin (a few hours via the M^ motorway), Kerry and the Cliffs of Moher.
Getting to the Rossaveal Port and then Inis Mor from Galway City Center.
There is a handy and frequent express bus (double decker bus) service that exclusively serves the port of Rossaveal and leaves from the center of Galway City. This express bus takes around 20 minutes. The Rossaveal express bus leaves from outside the Victoria Hotel which is located just two minutes walk from Eyre Square, the Galway train and bus terminal. If you wish to take a taxi from Galway to Rossaveal, this option is available. The main taxi rank is located beside Eyre Square.

Arriving By Ferry on Inis Mor Island from Doolin
One can also avail of the Ferry crossing to Inis Mor island from Doolin which is a villlage very close to the Cliffs of Moher, This is a smaller seasonal service that operates daily sailings to Inis Mor Island from Doolin Pier. This ferry service from Doolin operates from April – October. it takes 90 minutes to for the sailing to arrive in Inis Mor. As with the 60 minute ferry from Rossaveal, there is no option to take a vehicle on the boat. There is ample parking facilities to park your car whilst you go on your island excursion.
Getting from Doolin to the Port
Doolin itself is a relatively small rural town, although it is quite spread out, with the port at the far end. People travelling by car will have no problem reaching it, but anyone who is using public transport to travel around Ireland may need to consider taking a taxi to the port.
