We are brushing off the cobwebs and putting the kettle on, on all three Aran Islands. Getting ready for what we hope to be another busy season. Restrictions have lifted, and we can’t wait to give you the “Cead míle fáilte” you are all looking for. To make your trip to The Aran Islands as seemless as possible we have compiled some frequently asked questions, to clear up any confusion about visiting our beautiful islands.


Getting to the Aran Islands

We recommend booking your transport to The Aran Islands in advance. Check out the links below to the ferry and plane companies!

  • Galway Docks to Inis Mór via Cliffs of Moher

Have you tried “Irelands best Irish Experience 2021”? Aran Island Ferries launched a new Aran Islands and Cliffs of Moher tour in 2021, and it has been a hit! It is a must do when visiting Galway and the West Coast of Ireland. Hop on the ferry in the heart of Galway City, at Galway docks, and see the famous Cliffs of Moher from below, you will not be disappointed with the views! End the tour on Inis Mór, the largest of the three Aran Islands, home to the famous Dún Aonghusa and Poll na bpéist aka “The Wormhole”. One day is never enough, be sure to book your accommodation in advance!

Sailings begin from Galway docks on April 15th 2022 for the Summer season

  • Rossaveal to Inis Mór, Inis Oirr, Inis Meain

Sail to any of the three Aran Islands year round from Rossaveal, Co. Galway. Sailings take roughly 1 hour to any of the three Aran Islands.

Sailings with Aran Island Ferries from Rossaveal, Co. Galway operate all year round. *exception in severe weather conditions

  • Doolin to Inis Mór, Inis Oirr, Inis Meain

Two ferry companies operate seasonally (April thru August) from Doolin, Co. Clare.

Sailings from Doolin begin on April 1st 2022. This is not an April fool!

  • Inverin to Inis Mór, Inis Oirr, Inis Meain

If boating isn’t your cup of tea, take an 8 minute flight with Aer Arann Islands from Inverin, Co. Galway to any of the three Aran Islands. Flights daily to all three islands.

Accommodation on The Aran Islands

To experience all that the islands have to offer, one day is never enough. Book your accommodation in advance as the Summer months on all three islands book up very quickly.

10th April 2022- Kids Purple disco in aid of Epilepsy Ireland (3pm-5pm)

10th April 2022- Table quiz in aid of Epilepsy Ireland (9pm-11pm)

17th April- Easter Weekend

23rd April 2022- Talent show- Aran Islands football club social night

30th April- Inis Iron Meain


Getting Around

There is so much to see on the Aran Islands, one day will not be enough no matter which island you chose to explore! The most popular way to explore is by bike. Check out Aran Bike Hire for renting bikes on Inis Mór. There are bike hires on Inis Oirr also.

If biking isn’t for you buses and horse and traps are also available near the port.
