A documentary made on Inis Mor by Volodomyr Kolbasa from the Ukraine. It captures the flavour of the island from its own angle and portrays some of the characters. It is around, but not about, me, Robert Hilton, a ship’s master for Aran Island Ferries. It could be said to give some insight into how the island affects those who are here as natives and those who have come here to work. I feel lucky to be a small part of all this.
The wreck of an old fishing boat lies against Kilronan pier. It has its ‘photo taken about as much as I do, and probably for similar reasons. However I suspect I may be slightly older. Inis Mor shows in this film how well it deserves a visit even on a dull damp day. It is seldom cold and there is always one or other cosy retreat after any excursion, walk or cycle ride.
